Mauricio Kugler received the degree in electrical engineering in 2000, and the MSc degree in biomedical engineering in 2003, both from the Federal Technological University of Paraná, Brazil. In 2007, he received a PhD degree in computer science and engineering from the Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan. Currently, he is an assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at this same institute and an invite professor at the École Supérieure d'Ingénieurs en Génie Électrique (ESIGELEC), France. His research interests include machine learning, large scale pattern recognition methods, biomedical signal processing, artificial neural networks, embedded systems and hardware programming. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
